Vasanth Gopalan (expert in programming language thinking) suggests: “For many people, English is not their mother tongue, so learning English is like learning a new language, so many people will find it difficult because each of us is influenced by the language thinking of our mother tongue like Hindi, Vietnamese…”. How to speak English without being “mixed” with the mother tongue, how to overcome the “obsession” with English?
Effective English learning method NLP
Not the right remedy for the “obsession”!
The lingering obsession with English for Vietnamese people is due to a lack of method, lack of confidence. Lack of method because Vietnamese people have always followed the conventional path of heavy grammar learning, “repeatedly plowing” English by rote memorization. Learning just to cope, learning just to get high scores, so English becomes a difficult arithmetic subject.
The obsession with English due to lack of method is just an objective cause; the main issue is that Vietnamese people always lack confidence. Learning English without being proactive, without daring to confidently express what they think, then that English cannot be applied in life. To be proactive and deal with English, according to Mr. Vas, it is necessary to identify motivation: “Why learn English, learn English for what, what benefits does it have? If this cannot be answered, learning will be a waste of time. Without a learning goal, everything becomes an obligation.” When you feel English is essential, directly influencing your work, your life, then it will immediately urge you to learn by all means.
English is a new language but not too difficult for Vietnamese people because the Vietnamese alphabet is similar to the English alphabet. Compared to countries in the region like Korea, China, Japan… Vietnamese people make fewer spelling mistakes when writing English but are weak in communication including pronunciation. We cannot blame anyone or any cause; the main thing is still ourselves, not recognizing the importance of English will never actively learn English.
NLP(Neuro-Linguistic-Programming) - method to treat the English “obsession”!
Mr. Vas shares: “Thinking is an issue but the problem stems from purpose and the importance of motivation in learning. Motivation comes from purpose, it needs to impact the learner's subconscious so that the learner learns actively.” If a learner is subconscious, what will happen?

Mr. Vas shares his experience in creating motivation in English at the seminar “Efficient Application of NLP in Learning English” organized by Mytour.
NLP - the programming language thinking helps save time, effort that you should spend to conduct a certain skill. Thus, we need to train our subconscious, thoughts about language and communication in the brain. Our brain cannot distinguish whether we are communicating for real or just in the mind. NLP can do that, that's how NLP helps increase learners' English learning ability, awareness from the subconscious, and act actively. Simply put, NLP language programming is a method applied to teaching, helping learners control their brain and promote, improve their behavior.
In the NLP method, motivation is very important, each learner needs a clear reason, a clear motivation to learn English, from the simplest motivations to those that have a big impact on life. Learn English to get a job, learn English to support yourself, learn English to not be outdated…motivations to learn English need to be listed and more importantly it must affect the subconscious making us think and ponder about it.
Currently, many Vietnamese people have not fully recognized the importance of English, although the country is increasingly integrating. Recognizing this, Mytour International English Center has collaborated with Mr. Vas, who was directly trained by GS. Richard Bandler and GS. John Grinder, the 2 founders of language thinking programming industry.
Currently, he is considered one of the leading Gurus in training Applied Programming Language Thinking - NLP in Asia (Master NLP Trainer, Coaching & Consultancy), also Founder & CEO of Leading Performance Singapore - LPS.
