3. Tips and Advice on Using IELTS Speaking Part 1 Samples
1. Should you memorize sample answers?
It is not recommended. Memorizing sample answers can lead to consequences:
- Câu trả lời thiếu tự nhiên, gượng ép (do thí sinh chỉ biết nhắc lại như cái máy)
- Giám khảo là những người trải qua đào tạo và có đủ kinh nghiệm để nhận ra nếu thí sinh cố học thuộc bài mẫu;
- Trong nhiều trường hợp, giám khảo sẽ hỏi thêm câu hỏi phụ dựa vào những gì thí sinh đã nói (để kiểm tra năng lực thật). IELTS Speaking được chấm điểm theo 4 tiêu chí chứ không tính điểm trên số câu trả lời, nên đừng nghĩ học được câu nào là “trót lọt” câu đó nhé.
Therefore, whether you use Speaking samples from Mytour or elsewhere, consider it as a source to refer to for expressions and vocabulary only.
2. Creating your answer formula
Speaking Part 1 only stops at basic Q&A. Each answer (for a Part 1 IELTS Speaking question) should only be 2 - 3 sentences long. You can base it on key topics in IELTS Speaking to create an answer formula for each type, suitable for your target band score.
For example, at band 6, you just need to speak long enough. But to reach band 7, you need cohesive answers and more varied grammar.
