7. Kill This Love
BLACKPINK made their highly anticipated return to the K-pop scene with their mini-album featuring the title track 'Kill This Love.' While the group didn't achieve massive success in Korea due to the brief promotional period, this album marked a significant evolution for the four YG Entertainment stars, following their last comeback in June 2018. From the moment BLACKPINK revealed the tracklist, fans were eager with excitement, as all five songs were produced by the hitmaker 'Teddy,' ensuring the group's success.
However, upon release, the title track 'Kill This Love' sparked mixed reactions, with some critics questioning its chaotic musical arrangement, feeling it couldn't possibly live up to the massive success of their previous hit, 'DDU-DU DDU-DU.'
Since its release on April 23, 2019, the album sold nearly 250,000 copies in Korea within just eight days, outperforming their previous album, 'Square Up,' which sold about 175,000 copies in 15 days. It was also launched in China through QQ Music, KuGou, Xiami, and other platforms, where it sold over 500,000 copies, earning BLACKPINK a Diamond certification in the region. This made them the fastest K-pop group to achieve this and the first to do so in 2019. Globally, the album also topped the iTunes charts in over 35 countries.
