1. I'll Be Back Next Year for Tết
As a coastal police officer
I won’t be returning, Mom, oh no!
I must protect the sea and skies
Preventing invaders from crossing the line!
Though my heart aches for home, dear mom,
I’m focused on the duty, no time to mourn.
Back in the distant homeland,
Don’t be sad, Mom, please don’t worry!
I stay strong, my hands steady with the gun
Ready for any challenge, always on guard.
Against the enemy's ‘nine-dash line’,
I protect the peace of the islands!
I live amidst the storms and winds
Surrounded by the love of my comrades, my homeland.
Tết will come like a joyful celebration,
And we will cheer together!
Every day I look forward to the new year
With peach blossoms and the spring cake from home,
Sent to me from the islands
Despite the weather and the storms!
Through heat, rain, and tempests,
I guard the borders, standing strong.
Protecting the beloved islands
With the love of my parents in my heart!
I pray for your health, dear parents,
I’ll come back next Tết,
Walking happily down the road,
To visit you, my beloved family!

2. Loving a policeman will be tough, my dear
My whole life, I've just waited and waited
Spending sleepless nights, waiting for your return
Listening for the sound of your footsteps, hoping to see your shadow
That's the life of a policeman, my love
Not a single moment of rest
The criminals are still out there, my dear
So I'll be out there, keeping the homes warm
If tomorrow you wake up suddenly
And feel the absence of my warmth beside you
No “good night” texts each night
Then don’t cry, don’t be sad, my dear
Instead, be happy because I still love you
A love that will never fade away
For you, for the Party, for our nation
Thank life for bringing you into my world
For loving a man who returns late and leaves early
For loving those times when I work far from home
For loving the rules, strict yet beautiful
For loving the poetry that’s filled with a soldier’s spirit
For loving the carefree and humorous life
For loving me, a man who’s not perfect
For loving me, even though you know it won’t be easy
When I have to work on holidays and late nights
No one to share walks in the city with you
No weekends off like others have
Because of the job I chose, my dear
Even though it's hard, I wouldn't change it
Don't be upset when I’m late
Don’t be angry when I can’t come home
Because loving me means sharing me with the people
One part belongs to the people, and one part remains with you
Only when the people are safe will I rest easy…

3. A Poem Untitled
I wrote a poem about you
About the soldier in his worn-out uniform
The poem has stayed in my book for years
Never once did I dare to give it to you.
I wrote about you – the son of the homeland
The one who stands fearless before the enemy
With a heart full of passionate love
For the country, for the heroes who fought.
The poem I wrote, but you never knew
The words fading as time goes by
You, the soldier, traveling through the morning fog
While I stay at home, always watching.
Tomorrow, your house will echo with wedding tunes
I’ll come to congratulate you with a full heart
You’ll pat my head and smile gently saying
“When will you bring me good news, little sister?”
The poem was written for the one I love
The soldier I have quietly adored for years
A young man who still sees me as a child
A child who loves you, loves you even today.

4. If I Could Choose My Favorite Color
If I could choose my favorite color
I’d pick the light green – the color of trust
Another one – the golden yellow of the sun
The color of the traffic officers I see on the streets.
Let me choose one more, a color I like too
The faded green, worn by the brave riot police
I also love the color of the dry grass green
The color of the security officers, the color of love
Another color I love too
The black and yellow, worn by the firefighters
I also love the bold white
The color of the formal uniform on solemn days
I love all the police uniforms
It doesn’t matter if there are many or few
Each color carries a sense of pride
United by a common ideal, all for the nation.

5. Silent Steps
For twenty years in my hometown's mountain streets
She quietly walks the small, winding path
Dedicated to her mission in every neighborhood
Preserving peace and happiness for the people
Despite the dangers, the struggles, and the pain
The social ills of prostitution, gambling, and drugs
The thugs, the heartless souls, the demonic forces
Hidden in the shadows, waiting to strike
A silent war in times of peace, full of peril
How can we fight the evil, rid the wicked?
How can we help the lost find their way back to morality?
For the people, she walks quietly, step by step
Through every home, every street, every alley
Assessing, sharing, offering help
She uses compassion to awaken the human spirit
Her burdens heavy, her work often unnoticed
The chaos of an era in transition
The hardships hidden in the everyday lives
All present in each home, in every forgotten corner
The years pass by, like dreams within reality
Former addicts now choosing recovery on their own
Thugs transforming, seeking redemption
The evils retreat, and joy fills the air
Duty, love, the heart of a police officer
In two decades, the homeland has changed so much
But she still walks the mountain streets
Her silent steps, gathering countless victories.

6. He Walks Through the Streets This Afternoon
He walks through the streets this afternoon
His eyes still sting from the dust of the road
He's off to the border, joyful and free
But my love for him, my home, remain constant
He returns when his dreams are still bright
To visit the old school, those familiar halls
He returns to the empty station in the rain
Longing for the warmth of my love, so pure and true
My love, a girl from the rear, always waiting
While he, the soldier, defends the distant frontier
Our love, so deep, keeps us together
Together we protect this land of peace and joy
Though far away, I won’t be sad or weary
He holds the scent of my hair at the border
The station at night, the dim light glowing
And in the air, my figure waits for him
The afternoon at the border is dreamlike
The green forest hides the mist that flows through
Outposts, stations, and posts are my home
The memories of longing packed inside his backpack

7. A Tribute to You, Our Heroes
I write this poem in the midst of work and busyness
To send to the brave police officers
Quietly, resolutely, enduring hardships and struggles
Preserving the peace in our everyday lives.
Spring knocks on the door, bringing the love it holds
The yellow apricot blossoms grace the green uniform
The morning dew, like twinkling eyes
As I follow you on your patrol through the streets.
Simple, yet filled with small dreams
Spring of peace arrives at every home
Everyone's face shines like flowers
Gleaming in the eyes of the young girl.
You walk, carrying souls burning with passion
Weeding out trouble, bringing joy to the world
Still remembered, still loved, still filled with emotions
But you set everything aside to let others sleep peacefully.
The police officers follow Uncle Ho’s teachings
Every village bears your familiar footprints
You light up the night with the flame of trust
You, heroes, are a true part of life.
The poem I write amidst the hustle and bustle of life
For the people rushing about in every direction
Spring is here, with smiles that warm the heart
In the depths, there you are – the soldier.

8. Untitled Poem
Your life is painted in shades of green
A color, not bright but the hue of young leaves
The favorite color of children everywhere
The color of happiness, free from danger.
Enduring hardships while chasing down the wrongdoers
Solving the mysteries, thinking through each crime scene
The people are our roots, the military our pillar
Together, we protect our homeland to last through the ages.

9. The Police Officer of the People
A simple, humble shade of green
The color of your uniform, filled with glorious achievements
Earned through sweat, blood, and hardship
Bringing peace and happiness to the people.
As time moves forward, so do your steps
Tasks ahead, night and day without rest
Challenging cases, dangerous crime scenes
You forget yourself, your own happiness, for the people.
A modest home waits for you
Your child eagerly awaits your return each evening
Your loving wife, waiting anxiously each night
With tasks piling up, you lose track of time
Simple work but full of struggle and sacrifice
Meals at home are few and far between
Sleep interrupted, duties come unexpectedly
And you set off again in the cold of the night
The Party entrusts you with a difficult task
The people place their trust in you, as you serve selflessly
Fighting against drugs, criminals, and evil
The battle of peace is fierce, though no guns are fired
So many victories paid with lives
Many comrades never return after each battle
Leaving behind children, young wives, and aging mothers
These sacrifices can never be fully told
Endless battles, never-ending, still ongoing
You continue silently with your noble mission
Despite the difficulties, the sacrifices, and the pain
With loyalty to the Party and the people, you remain devoted.

10. The Woman on the Road
I am a traffic police officer
Challenges and hardships, I fear not
Ready to be there whenever needed
Directing and clearing traffic wherever necessary
Rain or shine, I stand firm
Keeping traffic flowing is what makes my life fulfilling.
