1. Mazda 2
Mazda 2 is one of the few B-segment cars in Vietnam that offers both sedan and hatchback versions, alongside the Ford Fiesta. Previously distributed by Trường Hải and assembled locally, the 2019-2020 Mazda 2 is now fully imported from Thailand to benefit from the 0% tax incentive. The 2019-2020 model brings several exterior updates, making the car look more modern, and its Thai import status is a plus for Vietnamese buyers. Inside, the Mazda 2 offers one of the best interiors in its class, with features that give its competitors a run for their money.
Aside from the base sedan model with fabric seats, all other variants of the new Mazda 2 are equipped with beige leather seats for the hatchback and dark-colored leather for the sedan. The rear seats have a 60:40 folding function, expanding the cabin space when there's less cargo to carry. The imported Mazda 2 boasts top-tier features for its segment, including a 7-inch touchscreen integrated with a DVD player. It also comes with Mazda Connect for Bluetooth/AUX/USB connectivity, and a 6-speaker sound system. Other conveniences include automatic air conditioning, push-button start, and a rotary dial for various vehicle modes. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. With significant upgrades and top-tier technology, the Mazda 2 2019-2020 offers great value at a starting price of just over 500 million VND. This reasonable price, along with cutting-edge features and the reputation of a Japanese brand, positions the Mazda 2 as a formidable competitor to the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City, all while leading sales in Vietnam.

2. Kia Soluto

The 2019 KIA Soluto is aimed specifically at the small B-segment sedan market. In terms of design, it carries the latest KIA styling cues, such as the signature 'Tiger Nose' grille at the front, which gives the car a sleek and narrow appearance, seamlessly connecting with the rounded headlights. 4. Nissan Sunny
In the B-segment sedan category, the Nissan Sunny has often been underrated due to its lower sales figures and smaller user base. However, what many fail to realize is that this model excels in the segment with its spacious interior, durable performance, and an affordable price point compared to competitors like the Toyota Vios and Honda City. While the Nissan Sunny doesn't differ much from its rivals in size, it has a length similar to the 2018 Toyota Vios and a height comparable to the Honda City. The car's wheelbase is between that of the two competitors, but the design of the roofline and large windows provide a much roomier and airier cabin than many of its rivals.
The 2019 Nissan Sunny Q-Series has seen significant updates to its interior. The center console has been redesigned with a glossy black panel, replacing the previous matte plastic. This upgrade gives the interior a more sophisticated feel, moving away from its earlier budget-oriented look. The spacious interior remains a hallmark, with fabric-covered seats in the XL version, while the Q-Series comes with fully leather-wrapped seats. The driver's seat features a 6-way manual adjustment, while the passenger seat offers 4-way adjustability. Unlike many competitors, the second row of seats does not fold to expand the trunk, but it does include a center armrest with cup holders for added convenience.
The 2019 Nissan Sunny is powered by a 1.5L DOHC 16-valve engine with CVTC (Continuously Variable Timing Control) and Drive-by-Wire technology, producing 98 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 134Nm at 4,000 rpm. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission in the XL version and a 4-speed automatic transmission in the higher-end Q-Series variants. Unfortunately, in other markets, the Nissan Sunny is upgraded to a more efficient Xtronic CVT, which offers better performance and fuel economy. To improve fuel efficiency, the 2019 Nissan Sunny is equipped with an electronic fuel injection system (ECCS), achieving fuel consumption rates of 5.79 L/100km for the manual version and 6.3 L/100km for the automatic version.

5. Mitsubishi Attrage
Mitsubishi Attrage stands out among its competitors in terms of pricing and practicality. The 2019 model doesn't introduce groundbreaking changes, but it continues to offer the key advantages that have made it a popular choice: a Japanese-branded sedan, imported directly from Thailand, at an affordable price that is accessible to most buyers. While the 2019 Attrage doesn’t bring significant updates to its exterior, it retains the signature round and smooth contours, with a few added sturdy design details that help balance its overall look.
The cabin of the Mitsubishi Attrage maintains a simple and functional design, prioritizing usability for both the driver and passengers. The interior layout and materials are thoughtfully arranged for maximum efficiency. With a wheelbase of 2,550 mm, the Attrage offers a spacious interior for its class. Legroom and headroom are generous, even for someone around 1.75m tall, which is a significant advantage in the compact B-segment. The main difference between the versions is that the CVT model features leather upholstery, while the other variants come with fabric seats. All versions have manually adjustable front seats, with the driver’s seat offering 6-way adjustment and the passenger’s seat 4-way adjustment.
All four 2018 Attrage versions are equipped with a 1.2L MIVEC 3-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 77 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 100 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The two manual transmission (MT) versions use a 5-speed gearbox, while the two CVT versions come with the INVECS continuously variable transmission, offering a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness to the driver’s needs. In terms of safety, the Attrage includes key features such as ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), an engine immobilizer with anti-theft capabilities, a collapsible steering column and brake pedal in the event of a collision, dual airbags, a rigid RISE frame, and high-strength materials. The CVT version also includes a rearview camera.

6. Ford Fiesta
The Ford Fiesta made its debut in Vietnam in 2013 and quickly gained popularity among Vietnamese consumers. However, with the influx of Asian competitors such as the Honda City, Kia Rio, and Hyundai Accent, the Fiesta has struggled to keep pace. On the positive side, its compact size makes it highly maneuverable, especially in urban areas or tight spaces. The 2019 Ford Fiesta boasts a modern, dynamic design, perfect for daily commuting in the city. The front grille is a standout feature, with its inverted trapezoidal shape and chrome-accented air intakes, adding an extra flair to its appearance.
Upon its release, the interior of the 2019 Ford Fiesta received praise for its stylish design. The dashboard stands out with a high-tech, contemporary look, featuring a central multi-information display and an array of buttons, similar to luxury models. Compared to direct competitors like the Honda City and Honda Jazz, the Fiesta is notably smaller, which translates into a more cramped interior. This space limitation becomes a downside for both the sedan and hatchback versions. The Titanium version features luxurious leather upholstery, while the Sport and Sport+ versions use a leather and fabric combination, with seats designed to offer more support and a sportier feel. All three versions come with manually adjustable front seats (4-way adjustment), while the rear seats can be folded in a 60:40 ratio to expand the trunk space when needed for larger items.
The 2019 Ford Fiesta offers a strong performance configuration compared to others in its class. Both the Fiesta 1.5L Titanium and Fiesta 1.5L Sport are powered by a 1.5L Ti-VCT Duratec 4-cylinder engine with 16 valves, utilizing multi-point fuel injection to deliver a maximum output of 110 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and a peak torque of 140Nm at 4,400 rpm. Additionally, the Ford EcoMode function helps assess driving habits for better fuel efficiency, allowing drivers to go further while consuming less fuel, similar to the Eco Coaching feature found in Honda models. The Fiesta 2019 also comes with an EPAS electric power-assisted steering system, which provides light handling at low speeds and becomes progressively firmer at higher speeds.

7. Honda Jazz

8. Toyota Vios

9. Hyundai Accent
The new generation of the Hyundai Accent debuted in Vietnam in April 2019. Upon its release, the B-segment sedan quickly gained positive attention due to its competitive pricing and solid equipment. The 2019 Accent adopts Hyundai's 'Fluidic Sculpture 2.0' design language, similar to other models in the brand's lineup. Compared to its predecessor, the car's updated look is more refined and sporty. Except for the base 1.4 MT version, which uses standard halogen lights, all other variants come with projector headlights with automatic on/off, cornering adjustment, and integrated LED daytime running lights. Currently, only the Honda City and Mazda 2 in this segment offer LED headlights.
The interior of the Hyundai Accent represents a significant step forward. The brand has updated the cabin with more elegant and harmonious color schemes, blending light and dark tones. All versions feature manually adjustable seats, with 6-way adjustment for the driver and 4-way adjustment for the front passenger. Rear seat legroom is adequate but not overly spacious. A small downside is the lack of a center armrest for the rear seats, which may cause discomfort on long trips for two passengers. The top-spec 1.4 AT Special Edition features faux leather seats, while the other variants have fabric upholstery. The 3-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in leather with silver accents, providing a better grip and a more refined feel compared to the previous model. Integrated controls for hands-free calling and audio adjustments are also present. The 1.4 AT Special Edition comes with cruise control.
The 2019 Hyundai Accent continues to use the same engine as the previous model, a 1.4L MPI Kappa gasoline engine producing 100 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 132 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Small updates to the intake and exhaust valves have improved fuel efficiency and enhanced the engine's durability. The transmission has been upgraded from a 6-speed automatic to a CVT, with an optional 6-speed manual gearbox. Designed for urban commuting, family use, and service fleets, the Accent's driving experience is fairly average. The electric power steering is light with minimal road feedback, and the cabin noise insulation is average. At speeds of 90-100 km/h, the car remains stable without floating. Among the B-segment cars, the Honda City is still considered the best option for driving dynamics.

10. Honda City
The Honda City 2019 is a B-segment sedan, with prices for the 1.5L and 1.5 TOP variants set at 559 million VND and 599 million VND, respectively. Competing in the same segment are formidable rivals like the Toyota Vios, Mazda 2, and Hyundai Accent. The design of the 2019 Honda City is sporty and compact, suitable for families, middle-aged parents, or older individuals. For those buying a car for people over 50, it's recommended to opt for classic colors like white or black. The 1.5 TOP version comes with full LED headlights, which are highly efficient with no notable drawbacks. On the other hand, the 1.5L version uses halogen headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, which sometimes fail to reach distant road signs, get hotter, and have a shorter lifespan. If this is inconvenient, you can upgrade to full-LED headlights for about 3 million VND, depending on the features.
The interior offers spacious and comfortable seating in both the front and rear, surpassing many other cars in this segment. The driver’s seat has 6-way manual adjustment, making it convenient for families who share the vehicle. The passenger seat adjusts 4 ways, and there are 3 headrests for added comfort when transporting 5 adults. The seats are plush and comfortable, with excellent cushioning for long drives. Notably, the rear seats fold flat to expand the trunk capacity to 536 liters, large enough for two large suitcases and a few smaller bags. Additionally, the spare tire compartment can be used for small items. The 3-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in urethane for the 1.5L and leather for the higher variants, providing a firm grip and integrating essential functions like hands-free calling, paddle shifters, volume control, and cruise control. The air conditioning system is either manual or automatic, depending on the variant. A unique feature of the Honda City is the rear air vents, which no other competitors in the segment offer, though its cooling speed and efficiency are only average.
The Start/Stop button and keyless entry system enhance convenience and provide a modern, user-friendly experience, including the ability to open the trunk remotely. The engine produces 118 horsepower, offering quick acceleration for both city driving and highway cruising. At speeds over 100 km/h, road noise becomes noticeable due to the car’s average sound insulation. The Honda City, like most Japanese cars, is known for its durability and reliability. You likely won’t need to worry about issues such as engine malfunctions, lighting problems, or interior defects within the first 5,000 to 10,000 km. It’s recommended to take the car for its first service after 1,000 km within the first month to prevent any rare technical issues.
