2. Kim Lien Historical Site - President Ho Chi Minh's Hometown
Beyond outdoor activities, a journey to rediscover our roots is a meaningful choice for March 8th. Lotus Village, located in Kim Lien Commune, Nam Dan District, is the birthplace of our nation's great leader. Hidden behind lush bamboo groves and rows of betel nut trees lies a humble five-room thatched house, the family home of Nguyen Sinh Sac, the father of President Ho Chi Minh. Despite the passage of time, many heirlooms, including a chest, cabinet, wooden tray, and study desk, remain intact. Visiting Lotus Village offers not only an opportunity to learn about President Ho Chi Minh's childhood home and life but also a chance to experience the serene ambiance of thatched roofs and swaying bamboo, accompanied by the subtle fragrance of lotus blossoms along the path.
About 2 km from Kim Lien Village lies Hoang Tru Village, also part of Kim Lien Commune in Nam Dan District, 15 km from Vinh City. While Kim Lien (Lotus Village) is the paternal hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, where his father, Phó bảng Nguyễn Sinh Sac, lived after his return, Hoang Tru, also known as Temple Village, is his maternal hometown and the place of his birth. The Hoang Tru site features a modest three-room house where President Ho Chi Minh spent his challenging yet beautiful childhood with his family.
After exploring the paternal Lotus Village and maternal Hoang Tru Village, visitors can pay their respects at the tomb of Hoang Thi Loan, President Ho Chi Minh's mother. Her tomb is located on the slopes of Dong Tranh Mountain, part of the Dai Hue Range in Nam Giang Commune, Nam Dan District, about 100 meters above sea level. The tomb features 269 steps (symbolizing 1969, the year President Ho Chi Minh passed away), while the path down to the right has 242 steps (symbolizing 1942, when her remains were brought here). Additionally, there are 33 steps leading to the memorial area, representing her age at the time of her passing.

3. Tham Om Cave
If you’re an adventure seeker who loves exploring caves, Tham Om Cave is the place for you. Located in Quỳ Châu District, Nghe An Province, this cave is estimated to be around 20,000 years old. A beautiful and diverse natural wonder, it holds both archaeological value and is one of Vietnam’s most mysterious caves. Archaeologists have uncovered stone and bronze tools, as well as fossilized animal bones and teeth, proving that ancient Vietnamese people lived here around 200,000 years ago. This discovery shows that the people of Tham Om were among the first inhabitants of Vietnam.
In Thai, Tham Om means “Big Cave.” The cave stands at a height of 15 meters, facing northeast. 4. Xao Va Waterfall
Xao Va Waterfall is often compared to a shy maiden hidden away in the nature of Quế Phong. Located about 170 km northwest of Vinh City, this waterfall is quite majestic, with a height and width of 30 to 35 meters. The sight of the water cascading from high above onto the rocky cliffs on either side is truly impressive. The sound of the rushing waterfall blends with the cheerful birdsongs and the gentle breeze across the Nậm Việc River, creating a symphony of nature that calls out to life.
At the base of Xao Va Waterfall lies a large lake. The lake appears calm, but its depth remains a mystery. According to locals, the lake is said to be around 20 arm spans deep, equivalent to about 30 meters. In addition, visitors have the opportunity to join local Thái men and women in sharing a traditional horn of wine, singing a folk song, or simply observing the lifestyle and traditional attire of the local ethnic minorities. 15. Sunflower Fields - Triangle Flower Fields
Sunflower Fields is located in the 19/5 Farm, Nghĩa Sơn commune, Nghĩa Đàn district, Nghệ An province, covering an area of 100 hectares. This is considered the largest sunflower field in Vietnam, attracting a large number of visitors every flower season. In March, when the sunflowers bloom, the fields are covered in a bright yellow hue, glowing under the sunlight and lighting up the entire sky.
