2. Ho Chi Minh City Mental Health Hospital
Ho Chi Minh City Mental Health Hospital originated as the Chợ Quán Hospital, established in 1861 as a medical station for the French at Chợ Quán village. In 1862, philanthropists funded its conversion into a hospital, and by 1865, it was donated to the local government to treat venereal diseases and house prisoners with mental illnesses. It wasn't until 1904 that the hospital began focusing on mental health care. Following the reunification of Vietnam in 1975, the center rapidly developed its facilities, expertise, and staff to meet the increasing demand for mental health care in Ho Chi Minh City. On August 21, 2002, it officially became the Ho Chi Minh City Mental Health Hospital.

- Providing expert psychiatric evaluations as requested by authorities.
- Training and educating students, general practitioners, and medical professionals in mental health.
- Engaging in international research collaborations on mental health topics.
Despite challenges related to resources, the Vietnamese government, from national to local levels, has recognized mental health care as a national priority and is investing significant effort to meet this critical need for the population.
