1. Ong Thoai Lake
One of the must-see places is the Ong Thoai Lake Ecotourism Area – Thoai Son, where majestic mountains and tranquil, fairy-tale landscapes meet sacred temples. Anyone who visits here feels reluctant to leave.
Thoai Son, also known as Nui Sap, is the largest mountain in the cluster of seven mountains, which include Nui Sap, Nui Nho, Nui Ba, and Nui Cau, all contributing to its unique appearance. The mountain rises 85 meters above sea level.
Outside the Ong Thoai Lake Ecotourism Area, on the slopes of Nui Sap, stands the Thoai Ngoc Hau Temple, built in 1822 during the reign of Minh Mang. This temple still preserves the ancient Thoai Son stele, engraved with a text written by Thoai Ngoc Hau himself, documenting the construction of the Thoai Ha canal in 1818. You can admire the stele, which has been translated into Vietnamese from the original stone inscription, as it stands on the mountainside, honoring Thoai Ngoc Hau's monumental contributions and the sacrifices of earlier generations who helped to reclaim the land for Vietnam. In the center of the lake, there is a solemn statue of Thoai Ngoc Hau, gazing towards the Thoai Ha Canal.
From the bridge, you can look down at the large and small stones that rise from the lake’s surface, with the water always a clear, vibrant blue. The lake is never dry. Here, you can enjoy leisurely activities like paddle boating, rowing through caves, and exploring the hidden corners of the mountain. You can also pass through natural tunnels and caves that connect one lake to another. The scenic lake is a masterpiece of nature.
A visit to Ong Thoai Lake offers an unforgettable natural experience, a peaceful sense of calm, and the chance to immerse yourself in nature's beauty while discovering the heroic history of the nation's ancestors.
