1. Department of Law
Although this department was just established this year, it has quickly gained popularity. With a high admission rate and competitive entrance scores, in 2021, the minimum scores were 26.75 for Group C and 25.75 for Group D. Law is a field in high demand, as many industries and organizations need legal expertise. As Vietnam continues to integrate internationally, particularly after joining the WTO, the need for skilled legal professionals has only increased. Those who specialize in law, with both expertise and integrity, are highly valued in society.
At Hanoi University of Culture, students acquire essential legal knowledge, including practical legal skills and an understanding of related political, economic, cultural, and social issues. The program also focuses on developing specialized expertise and practical experience, allowing students to handle everyday legal challenges. 2. Department of Creative Writing and Journalism
Originally a part of the Journalism major under the Department of Creative Writing and Journalism, this department became an independent entity in 2016. However, its popularity among students remains strong, as reflected by its competitive entrance scores—26.75 for Group C and 25.75 for Group D in 2021.
The department boasts a team of highly skilled and passionate instructors. Students are equipped with a strong foundation in social sciences and humanities, along with core journalism and communication knowledge. They also gain expertise in newsroom management, journalism genres, online media, and television production. Moreover, students develop practical skills such as news writing, investigative reporting, editing, layout design, organizing events, internal communications, and creating radio and TV programs. They also learn to design and produce advertising materials, preparing them to meet industry demands.

3. Department of International Language and Cultural Studies
The Department of International Language and Cultural Studies specializes in training International Tourism Guides, following the curriculum of Vietnamese Studies. Many of its lecturers have studied abroad in countries such as Russia, Australia, and China to enhance their teaching expertise and professional knowledge.
Graduates of this department will possess a solid foundation in social sciences and humanities, as well as an understanding of Vietnam's cultural traditions. Additionally, students gain specialized knowledge in the tourism industry, allowing them to leverage cultural values for tourism development and to improve the quality of cultural experiences in the tourism sector. Therefore, job prospects for graduates are exceptionally high.
Notably, with strong English proficiency (achieving at least a score of 6 in the National High School Exam for English and a B1 level upon graduation), students will have access to a wide range of attractive international job opportunities.


4. Media and Cultural Studies (Department of Cultural Studies)
The Media and Cultural Studies major (Department of Cultural Studies) had an impressive entrance score in 2021, with 26 points for Group C and 27 points for Group D, and the trend is expected to continue rising in the coming years. Media and Cultural Studies is undoubtedly one of the most popular programs at Hanoi University of Culture. In today’s world, the media industry is having a global impact, making the study of culture for media purposes a highly relevant and appealing field of study.
Students will gain foundational knowledge of both Vietnamese and global cultures, specifically applied in the field of media. The program also focuses on analyzing and understanding the dynamics of modern mass communication. With experienced core faculty members and guest lecturers from prestigious universities and social science research institutes, students receive expert instruction in the intersection of culture and the arts.
In addition, students in this major and the Department of Cultural Studies participate in numerous events organized by the department, such as the welcoming Gala for new students and charitable activities like “Love Wrapped in Rice Cakes”. The department is proud to have won several first-place awards at the university's annual art performances celebrating Teacher’s Day (November 20th).
Graduates of the Media and Cultural Studies program have a solid foundation in their field, making them highly employable. Many alumni have gone on to successful careers in television, media departments at large and small companies, and more.


5. Tourism Culture (Department of Vietnamese Studies)
The Tourism Culture major, under the Department of Vietnamese Studies, had an entrance score of 21.75 for Group C and 22.75 for Group D in 2021. However, due to the program's high English language requirements, the number of applicants is relatively lower. Students are provided with a comprehensive theoretical and practical education in tourism, enabling them to design, organize, and manage travel programs.
Founded in 2000, following the integration of the Tourism Culture program from the Museum Department in 1993, the department boasts a faculty with 85% holding postgraduate degrees, including 15% with PhDs. Since then, the Department of Vietnamese Studies, particularly the Tourism Culture major, has become a trusted source of highly skilled professionals for both the tourism industry and other sectors.
Students in this program gain hands-on experience by leading tours while still in university, which opens up a wealth of job opportunities upon graduation.


6. Travel and Tour Guidance (Department of Vietnamese Studies)
Similar to the Tourism Culture major, the Travel and Tour Guidance major also falls under the Department of Vietnamese Studies. As such, the educational process is fundamentally the same for both programs, with graduates receiving essential knowledge in tourism to prepare them for their careers. The main difference lies in the slightly more specialized focus of each program, tailored to their respective titles.
Faculty members are equally distributed between the two majors, ensuring consistent teaching quality across both. In 2021, the entrance score for the Travel and Tour Guidance major was 24.5 for Group C and 25.5 for Group D.
