The Usual Suspects (1995) is a crime thriller. The story revolves around Roger 'Verbal' Kint - one of the 2 survivors after a horrifying shootout at the Los Angeles harbor. Verbal tells his intricate tale to interrogator David Kujan, a complex narrative of events leading him and four notorious criminals to serendipitously cross paths.
5 of them are manipulated by a mysterious figure named 'Keyser Söze.' Through recollection, Roger intricately narrates his ever more complex story to make Kujan believe that he and his accomplices were coerced to be present on that fateful night on the ship. The mastermind is considered the smartest plot twist film, leaving a significant impact on subsequent crime genre films.

4. Retribution - Oldboy (2003)
Oldboy is a gripping Neo-noir, action-packed South Korean film released in 2003, directed and written by Park Chan-wook. The movie stars actor Choi Min-sik in the lead role. Oldboy is an adaptation of the popular Japanese manga of the same name by Minegishi Nobuaki and Tsuchiya Garon. It is the second film in The Vengeance trilogy.
The film tells the story of Oh Dae-Su, who is imprisoned in a hotel room for 15 years without knowing the purpose of his abduction. Upon release, Dae Su falls into the traps of conspiracy and violence. In his quest for revenge against the tormentor, he gets entangled in a whirlwind of emotions with a sushi chef. Unexpected twists continue to unfold from here...

5. City of Gods - Cidade de Deus (2002)
City of Gods (Portuguese: Cidade de Deus) is a Brazilian crime film from 2002 directed by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund, released domestically in 2002 and internationally in 2003. Bráulio Mantovani drew inspiration from the 1997 novel of the same name by Paulo Lins, but the plot is based on real events.
The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for 4 Oscars in 2004. Remarkably, it often makes it to the nominations for the best films of the 21st century and of all time. The movie portrays the development of an organized crime group in the outskirts of Cidade de Deus, the city of Rio de Janeiro, from the late 1960s to the early 1980s.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a 2011 film directed by David Fincher, adapted by Steven Zaillian from the novel of the same name by Swedish author Stieg Larsson. The movie stars Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a gripping American crime thriller. Although there are two versions, Swedish and American, the Hollywood version (2011) is considered superior.
The main character of the film is Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), a 24-year-old girl likened to a female Sherlock Holmes for her genius detective skills. The plot revolves around the investigation into the 40-year-old disappearance of a girl by the two main characters.
