Câu trả lời mẫu (Sample Answer) Blossom IELTS Speaking Part 1
1. What types of flowers are you familiar with?
To be frank, I’m not particularly fond of flowers, so my knowledge about them is quite limited. If I were to name a few, the first that comes to mind is the rose. The rose is widely recognized as one of the most popular flowers, often associated with love. This is why people purchase roses on Valentine’s Day to give to their loved ones. Additionally, there are daisies, lilies, lotuses, and many others, each symbolizing various qualities and meanings that unfortunately I’m not well-versed in.
- Anthophile (n) = someone who loves flowers: người yêu hoa
- To spring to one’s mind: nảy ra (trong đầu ai đó)
- To regard sth as sth: coi cái gì đó như là…
- To embody: biểu hiện, hiện thân, tượng trưng cho…
- To have a feeling for: yêu thích ai/cái gì…
2. Are there flowers in Vietnam that hold special significance?
Based on my limited knowledge of flora, the lotus is considered the national flower of Vietnam due to its divine and graceful beauty. The lotus is frequently mentioned in Vietnamese folk songs and poems as an exquisite flower symbolizing purity, dedication, and hope for the future. It grows in muddy water but rises above it to bloom beautifully. For these reasons, the lotus is widely embraced by the Vietnamese people.
- Flora (n) thực vật
- Exquisite (adj) thanh tú, tuyệt đẹp
- To be cited: được trích dẫn
- To be endorsed: được chứng nhận
3. Have you ever cultivated any flowers?
As I've admitted before I'm not really a fan of flowers. Unlike my mom and sister, I don't find them particularly beautiful, so anything related to flowers just isn't my thing, whether it's buying them or planting them. However, if I find myself with some spare time in the near future, I might give it a try. I believe the process of nurturing a plant can be soothing as you witness a seed sprout and gradually blossom into a fully grown, beautiful organism.
- Therapeutic (adj) có tác dụng chữa bệnh
- To germinate: nảy mầm
- To bloom: nở rộ
- To have some time to spare (phrase) có thời gian rảnh
- To be into sth: thích gì
4. Have you ever sent flowers to someone?
People often give flowers as gifts on various occasions, but I usually prefer more practical options, like money, for instance. You see, flowers are generally short-lived and are mainly used for decoration, which I consider a waste of money. Once, instead of sending real flowers, I sent a bouquet of artificial flowers to my friends on their wedding anniversary, and we both loved the idea. Artificial flowers are more durable and just as beautiful as my friends' marriage.
- Ephemeral (adj) phù du, sớm nở tối tàn
- A bouquet of flowers: một bó hoa (được trang trí đẹp để tặng)
- To opt for: nghiêng về
- To deem: cho là/coi là
- Imitation flower/Artificial flower: hoa giả (lưu ý không dùng
fake flower)
