1. What types of decisions must adolescents make?
Without a doubt, adolescents today face numerous challenging decisions. During this transformative phase of life, they must make decisions about their careers and education, such as whether to pursue higher education or which professional path to choose. They also encounter decisions related to personal relationships as they navigate interactions and share experiences with many others. For instance, university students engage in various activities like classes or social gatherings where they encounter numerous relational decisions while socializing with peers.
2. Do young individuals tend to be influenced easily by others while making decisions? What are the reasons for this behavior?
Indeed. Due to their youth and lack of experience, their self-assurance in decision-making is impacted. Consequently, they often seek guidance from elders, such as family members, senior colleagues, or teachers. Additionally, with the rise of the Internet, it has become simpler to pose a question and receive a variety of responses. For example, before purchasing a product, they might go online to research customer feedback, and if there's significant negative input, they might opt not to buy it. This is a routine practice for me.
3. Can some individuals make decisions without seeking advice from others?
Certainly, such individuals exist, and I've personally encountered several. They simply have confidence in their own abilities and possess sufficient information to trust their own judgment. This is often observed in strong-willed individuals. However, this isn't always advantageous. If taken to an extreme, it might create the perception of excessive confidence and disregard for others' emotions. 4. Is it essential for children to make as many decisions independently as possible?
I think it depends on the type of decision being discussed. Certainly, children can benefit greatly from making decisions independently, such as choosing their own clothes. However, there are decisions that can be too daunting for young children to handle alone, and without guidance, they may make incorrect choices that could have adverse consequences. For example, selecting a school. In such cases, parents should be ready to offer guidance and provide clear instructions to help them make the best decision.
