The flow chart below shows the procedures to get a driving license in US. Write at least 150 words.

For Process type essays, the initial step involves an overall analysis of the task. The task requires candidates to write about the process of obtaining a driving license in the US (You can refer to the Process essay writing guide to better understand this type of Task 1)

Outline of the essay

In the essay, we will use a mix of complex sentences and passive voice constructions to diversify the grammatical structure of the writing. Simultaneously, attention will be paid to cohesive devices in writing. It is important to note that unlike Task 2 essays, this type of essay does not require a concluding paragraph.

• unlicensed: not having a licence (= a document giving legal permission) to do something, for example to sell alcohol, or use or own something, for example a gun
• commence: to begin something
• culminate in: If an event or series of events culminates in something, it ends with it, having developed until it reaches this point
• fill out: to write or type information in spaces that are provided for it
• requisite forms: the forms that are necessary or needed for a particular purpose
• eligible:  having the necessary qualities or satisfying the necessary conditions
• retake/resit the exam: to take an exam again because you failed it the first time
• qualified: having finished a training course, or having particular skills, etc
