The tables below show people’s reasons for giving up smoking, and when they intend to give up. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Example
The table provides data on why individuals quit smoking and when they plan to do so. Overall, the majority of smokers of all addiction levels decide to quit in the interest of their health in general and hope to achieve their objective within six months.
Regarding motivations to give up this habit, roughly three quarters of all respondents desire to improve their health. This percentage, however, reduces to around two thirds among those smoking over 20 cigarettes per day. A fifth of this group are also urged to give up their habit due to existing health issues, doubling the figures for the remaining groups.
Although those who smoke fewer than 10 cigarettes every day feel less financially constrained, they are more likely to stop smoking as pressured by family members, with 25% and 20% reporting these reasons respectively. In addition, the total number of smokers aiming to prevent smoking-related illnesses accounts for 25%.
The information moreover reveals that roughly three quarters of those questioned are attempting to refrain from smoking, except for the heaviest smokers under two thirds of whom are willing to do so. 35% of all smokers expect a six-month timeframe to be ideal for success, and this figure was much higher, reaching nearly half, among those smoking a maximum of 10 cigarettes per day. 21% of these smokers also maintain giving up smoking after a month is feasible, twice as much as the data for the heavier smokers.

IELTS Writing task 2
People who cause their own illnesses through unhealthy lifestyles and poor diets should have to pay more for health care. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Example
Low quality of life and poor nutrition in contemporary society has urged us to find out the rooted causes and adopt relevant measures. Some argue that individuals subject to illnesses should be charged more for what stems from their own choices. From my viewpoint, this idea is totally invalid.
Current fast-paced lifestyles have led to many involuntarily adjusting their ways of living to their tight schedules. A case in point is when modern office workers become drowned in their heavy workloads and are left no choice but leading a sedentary lifestyle. Working mothers provide another salient example. Playing dual roles means most of them must sacrifice sleep, leisure time and workout for childcare, household errands and financial responsibilities. It is therefore unfair to put people under financial constraints due to their undesired lifestyles.
How processed food affects our diets casts further light on the argument. Artificial colouring and flavouring has long been propelling the profits of the food processing industry. These chemicals add to the appeal of foods and beverages, extend their expiry dates and lower manufacture costs as compared to using natural ingredients.
In other words, no matter how informed and cautious consumers are about grocery shopping and diets, it is highly likely that they have already absorbed a sizeable amount of toxins from both home-cooked food and restaurants meals in their whole life. This may be refuted by some who promote organic products as healthier alternatives.
However, it is important to note that organic products are still not widely available in many areas and are often too expensive for daily consumption by average and low-income individuals.
To summarize, I disagree with penalizing those accused of leading unhealthy lifestyles and having poor diets with costly medical expenses. This is because few of us have the privilege to live as we wish.
