- What was the most boring thing you did when you were young?
- Do you think school is boring?
Here are questions, ideas, and sample answers for the BORING THINGS topic in IELTS Speaking Part 1 that you can refer to.
1. What activities do you find boring?
To be honest, I am someone who always craves novelty, so tasks that involve repetition really bore me. I can't stand doing the same thing over and over again, especially if it doesn't hold much personal value for me. Instead, I thrive on new challenges, like making discoveries or engaging in cutting-edge scientific projects, which truly brighten my day.
2. What do you usually do when you feel bored?
There are several ways that help alleviate my boredom. Personally, I find reading books to be the most effective remedy, allowing me to immerse myself in different worlds while gaining practical knowledge. Another way I combat boredom is through travel, which provides a refreshing break from my daily routines.
3. What was the most tedious thing you experienced in your youth?
If my memory serves me correctly, I distinctly remember feeling incredibly bored when I had to study English every day. During that time, multimedia resources like internet-connected computers, interactive videos, and online tools were not available, so English learning was confined to traditional textbooks. This made the learning process extremely dull.
4. Do you believe school can be dull?
Absolutely not. I think many people see their school as a prison, but for a graduate like me, it was genuinely a place of marvel. For one thing, school gave me the chance to socialize and build interesting relationships that I can depend on later in life. More importantly, what I learned at my schools was all highly practical and specifically customized to each individual’s requirements.
