Hot weather often leads to mouth ulcers for many people. Some suffer from them frequently, making eating and drinking unbearable. If you're one of them, check out these remedies:
1. Treating mouth ulcers with honey:
Gargle with honey or apply a small amount with a cotton swab directly onto the ulcer. This method, a classic, is often used to treat mouth ulcers. Scientific studies show that a 30% honey solution can inhibit or kill most bacteria and fungi, plus it has a pleasant, sweet taste.
2. Using natural astringents to treat mouth ulcers:
Astringents have antiseptic properties that help heal mouth sores caused by mouth ulcers. You can use gentle astringents like green tea, lemon balm (with thick leaves), purslane, mango peel… The simplest method is to swish a mouthful of green tea (not to drink, just swish a bit and then spit it out) for about 5-10 minutes, it will definitely provide relief. (I've tried it!)
3. Treating mouth ulcers with sour tamarind water:
Take 2-3 fresh tamarinds and mash them. Then, pour boiling water over the mashed tamarinds and simmer until boiling. Let the water cool down, then use it to gargle and slowly swallow, gargle multiple times a day. Pay attention to choosing sour tamarinds, as they have a better cooling effect than sweet ones.

4. Using tomato juice to treat mouth ulcers:
Use fresh tomatoes to extract juice. Drink several glasses a day (not only relieves heat but also beautifies the skin), and you'll notice mouth ulcers healing visibly faster.
5. Treating mouth ulcers with orange and lemon water:
Oranges and lemons themselves don't have specific properties to treat mouth ulcers. However, they are rich in vitamin C, which boosts immunity and helps you overcome diseases caused by viruses, bacteria (including mouth ulcers). You can drink a glass of orange or lemon juice every day. Just remember not to drink it on an empty stomach, it's not good for your stomach!
6. Using sweet potato leaves to treat mouth ulcers:
Clean sweet potato leaves, remove the stems and only take the leaves, crush and extract the juice, add some honey, and drink. Additionally, use a cotton swab to apply medicine to swollen and painful areas, ulcers with a frequency of 2 - 3 times/day. (Has effects similar to mugwort). According to traditional Chinese medicine, both sweet potato leaves and roots have cooling, blood circulation, diuretic, and detoxifying effects.
7. Treating mouth ulcers with coconut husk:
Take a piece of coconut husk, grind it, then extract the juice and use it to gargle about 3 - 4 times/day, it will heal quickly.
8. Using white radish to treat mouth ulcers:
Take 300g of raw white radish, mash it, then squeeze out the juice, mix with a little distilled water. Use this water to gargle 3 times/day, and after just 2 days, the mouth ulcers will be gone.
9. Treating mouth ulcers with baking soda:
- water: 100 ml (warm water is best).
- baking soda: 1 teaspoon
- table salt: 1 teaspoon
- Mix the ingredients together, use this water to rinse your mouth several times a day, at least 3 times/day, ideally 4-6 times/day.
Wishing you all a speedy recovery from mouth ulcers!
