Many industry giants are shifting towards the NFT gaming sector, creating a noticeable division in the online gaming industry.
It's undeniable that NFT games are currently one of the most captivating topics in the online gaming industry. Opinions vary, with some seeing it as a divisive issue, as not everyone agrees on the positive impact of integrating NFT features for gamers. While Valve remains staunchly against it and major studios indifferent, on the flip side, numerous giants are ready to join this race.
Ubisoft

Among the early entrants is Ubisoft. However, the results they achieved were relatively disappointing. The mastermind behind blockbusters like Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, and Call of Duty introduced an NFT initiative named Ubisoft Quartz. Here, players can buy, exchange, and trade in-game items like costumes and weapons as NFTs using the Tezos cryptocurrency.

However, the statistics reveal that only 15 items were sold. In the end, Ubisoft faced strong backlash for the controversial move of integrating NFTs into their game, receiving more criticism than support.
Tencent
While not directly involved, this doesn't mean the Chinese tech giant is sitting on the sidelines. Through a supporting company named Voodoo in France, Tencent has decided to invest over 200 million USD in developing blockchain technology next year to continue its P2E NFT project.

With phrases like 'innovation' echoing in the gaming industry, Voodoo's 200 million USD project is highly anticipated to launch in 2022.
Konami

In Japan, another giant, Konami, proves to be very in tune with the times. Recently, the largest game company in Japan announced that it would release its own NFT to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the famous electronic game brand Castlevania.

Specifically, Konami will launch an NFT collection of Castlevania, including memorabilia such as the song 'Vampire Killer,' in-game scenes, and pixel art created specifically for the collection. All will be auctioned from January 12th onwards. The auction will take place in the UK and Japan. To participate in the Castlevania NFT auction, users must have ETH in their wallets and be of legal age in their country.
Square Enix

At the dawn of the new year, the president of Square Enix didn't hesitate to conceal his deep ambitions in the NFT gaming field through a letter to the fans. Although there are no specific plans yet, this is enough to infuriate fans of many famous series such as Final Fantasy.

Even without a clear plan, Square Enix is facing a lot of opposition from gamers. There is even a wave of boycott aimed at this famous studio brand.
