ISO files, widely shared on the Internet, are a common format for large downloads like games, hefty software, and especially Windows installation files. In versions prior to Windows 7, tools like UltraISO, PowerISO, Winrar, etc., were essential to work with ISO files. However, in Windows 10, you can effortlessly access and use ISO files without the need for any additional software.
For instance, imagine having a Windows 7 installation file in ISO format. To mount it to a virtual drive, simply right-click on the file and choose Mount from the first option.
Upon clicking Mount, you'll instantly witness the folders and data within the ISO file opening up before your eyes.
Open This PC, and you'll encounter a virtual DVD Drive appearing – this is the virtual drive where we just mounted the ISO file. Inside this drive, you'll find the content of the ISO file we observed in the image earlier.
After usage, if you wish to delete the virtual drive, simply right-click on the drive and choose Eject, and you're done.
