In addition, Telegram is abolishing the concept of Supergroup, allowing any group to be public with multiple admins having control and message history support.
Group admins now have additional options to optimize how they deploy group chats. This includes options to block certain types of multimedia files or even prevent users from sending messages to all members. Telegram sees this as a way for admins to converse privately, while other users can only view. It can be used to announce information about developing projects without disrupting users' workflow.
Furthermore, the Telegram 5.2 update enables the recovery of deleted chats. Specifically, the app allows users to recover data deleted within 5 seconds of chat history deletion or recover specific conversations. So if you accidentally delete data, there is a chance to salvage lost data and conversations. After that timeframe, the data and chats will be permanently erased. Other minor enhancements in this update include the ability to sort contacts alphabetically or by time, download animated and thumbnail images for photos and videos.
The search bar on the iOS app has been visually updated, and the Dark Mode feature on the Android app allows users to switch the entire interface to a darker color scheme. Finally, Android users can now set their profile picture when creating an account.
In addition to mobile updates, the Telegram Desktop 1.5.8 update for computers also adds some features and minor changes. Specifically, admin privileges mentioned earlier are supported in Telegram Desktop. Additionally, the app now automatically downloads files. If making voice calls on Telegram, users can now configure input and output devices. Finally, users can choose their preferred emoji icon set, with options such as Apple, Google, Twemoji, and EmojiOne all available for selection.
