Viewing Compass on Android and iPhone

Nowadays, you don't need to buy a physical compass to determine the direction of your house or travel route. With just a smartphone equipped with a compass, you can easily check the compass on your phone to find out the directions - East, West, North, and South. This enables you to choose the right direction for your journey or house orientation.

How to Use Compass on iPhone and Android Phones

- Step 1: Download the compass app. If you already have it installed, you can skip this step.

- Step 2: On your phone's interface, open the compass app. When you first launch the app, the compass will display options; click on 'Allow only when using the app' (Figure 1). At this point, the compass app will show various parameters and abbreviations (Figure 2).

Among them:

- N (abbreviation for North): North Direction (degree range: 337°5 - 22°5).
- E (abbreviation for East): East Direction (degree range: 67°5 - 112°5).
- S (abbreviation for South): South Direction (degree range: 157°5 - 202°5).
- W (abbreviation for West): West Direction (degree range: 247°5 - 292°5).
- NE: Northeast Direction (degree range: 22°5 - 67°5).
- SE: Southeast Direction (degree range: 112°5 -157°5).
- SW: Southwest Direction (degree range: 202°5 - 247°5).
- NW: Northwest Direction (degree range: 292°5 - 337°5).
If you set the compass to display in Vietnamese, you will see the following symbols:
- B: North.
- N: South.
- T: West.
- Đ: East.
- ĐB: Northeast.
- ĐN: Southeast.
- TN: Southwest.
- TB: Northwest.

Note:

- Before taking measurements, it's recommended to rotate your phone with the compass turned on to calibrate it for more accurate orientation.
- When determining the direction of your house using a compass on Android or iPhone, to avoid interference and ensure accurate readings, place your phone on a plastic chair or table approximately 50cm high.

- Step 3: If you manage to determine the degree, you can easily know the direction you intend to measure.
