Application of vocabulary and sentence structures in the sample Writing Task 1 in table form
The table provides information about the percentage of English native-speaking men and women who chose to study one of nine foreign languages at the UK Centre for foreign language learning in 2020.
Broadly, it can be seen that Arabic was the most popular language chosen by men, while Mandarin was more widely chosen by women than other languages. In addition, obviously, the most significant difference between genders was associated with Mandarin.
As can be seen from the table, the biggest difference in the percentage of foreign languages was related to Mandarin, which is 13%. The number of males learning Welsh was double that of females, 8% and 4% respectively. Likewise, twice as many men chose to study German compared to women.
Conversely, Spanish was equally popular for both men and women. Similarly, the number of women studying Japanese (10%) was slightly higher than that of men (9%). Finally, Italian was the least popular language for men and women.
Exercise
The table presents the finding of a study conducted in Scotland with people aged from 16 to 74 to evaluate their participation in a range of cultural activities during a 12-month period.
Overall, it is clear that participation in any performance and crafts activities were (1)____ for all age groups. The age range of 16 to 24 had the (2)____ involvement, with 35% and 30% of participants in performance and visual arts, respectively.
