Seeking respite from the scorching sun, our group embarked on a journey to the 30.4 beach, Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City. Departing from District 7, Ho Chi Minh City at precisely 14:00, we crossed the Binh Khanh ferry and followed the Rung Sac route, arriving in just under 2.5 hours.
Setting up camp to admire the moon
At 17:00, as the sun began to descend, it peeked through the dense green foliage like small fiery embers. The waves rhythmically crashed against the shore. The area where we pitched our tent was still quite pristine, with tall grass and firm ground, making it ideal for securing the tent stakes. As night fell, we started a fire and grilled meat.
Seizing the opportunity to pitch tents before sunset
On her first visit to Can Gio, Ms. Dao Thi Lan Huong, residing in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, was truly excited even as the trip was just being planned. 'This journey allows me to immerse myself, to connect closely with nature and the people here. Life always holds something new, and I cherish every wonderful moment shared with everyone,' Ms. Huong shared her feelings.
Gathering together to grill meat
As the meat cooked to perfection and the charcoal began to dim, the waves crashed stronger. Our group began to set up a simple feast on the white tarpaulin. Enjoying the food while chatting... it seemed like there was no distance among us anymore.
As one of the youngest members of the group, 21-year-old Hoang Nhat Uyen My from Can Tho revealed that this was her first experience of camping by the sea. My expressed, 'After a string of stressful days, coming to Can Gio feels like hitting the 'F5' key on my life's trajectory, very exhilarating.'
Waking up early to embrace the sunrise
At 5 a.m. the next morning, everyone woke up gently, opening the tent door to welcome the sunrise. However, 24-year-old Lu Duy Tuong, residing in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, went to the beach to 'hunt' for the sunrise. At 5:30 a.m., the sun began to peek out from behind the dark clouds. At this moment, the sunrise was unusually vibrant, with golden rays shimmering romantically.
The dawn breaks its gentle light
Tuong is a passionate backpacker who loves nature, often recharging for the day ahead with a breathtaking sunrise by the sea. According to Tuong, to fully capture the sunrise, one should choose clear weather days, avoiding rainy or cloudy days. 'Search for the direction of the sunrise and select a suitable spot facing the sea to catch the first light, avoiding being obstructed by trees, tall buildings, or any forests. Another important thing is to set an early alarm to fully enjoy the experience,' Tuong said.
Lu Duy Tuong advises to be cautious when pitching a tent on the sandy beach, avoiding tent flooding and gear being washed away. The sea wind is strong, so it's necessary to set up compact tents to reduce wind resistance. When pitching the tent, make sure to drive the pegs deep and firm to ensure the tent is not dislodged.
When cooking, pay attention to the firewood, and before going to bed, extinguish all embers and tidy up the gear neatly because strong winds and dry grass can lead to fires. Clean up the campsite before leaving, always maintain hygiene, and protect the environment wherever you go. 'Leave nothing but footprints,' Tuong emphasized.
