I. What does In case mean?
Incase means to prevent, anticipate, or fear that something will happen in the future. In case is often used when wanting to remind, command someone to do something, or explain how to handle if the action in the clause containing In case occurs. For example:

- My mom doesn't think she will need any money but she will bring some just in case (Mẹ tôi không nghĩ mình sẽ cần tiền nhưng bà ấy sẽ mang theo một ít để đề phòng).
- The picnic area has ready access to water, in case of fire (Khu vực dã ngoại có sẵn nước, đề phòng hỏa hoạn).
II. How to use the In case structure in English
1. General In case structure
In case + Subject + Verb, Subject + Verb
Refer to examples:

- In case of fire, go immediately to the nearest emergency exit (Trong trường hợp hỏa hoạn, hãy đến ngay lối thoát hiểm gần nhất).
- I think we should leave a little early, in case there’s a lot of traffic (Tôi nghĩ chúng ta nên đi sớm một chút, đề phòng tắc đường).
Notes when using the In case structure:

- “In case” là một liên từ hoặc trạng từ tiếng Anh được sử dụng với mục đích nối hai mệnh đề (một vế thể hiện một hành động, vế còn lại sẽ thể hiện lý do).
- “In case” đứng trước trước mệnh đề chỉ lý do hay chỉ nguyên nhân và được dùng với mục đích chỉ lý do/ nguyên nhân của hành động được nhắc tới trước đó.
2. In case structure with different tenses
Future/ Present/ PRESENT PERFECT + In case + present/ should + base form
Conditional/ Past/ Present Perfect/ PAST PERFECT + In case + past/ should + base form

- The company only dismisses its employees in cases of gross misconduct (Công ty chỉ sa thải nhân viên của mình trong những trường hợp có hành vi sai trái nghiêm trọng).
- Nhung drew a map for me in case I couldn’t find this hotel (Nhung đã vẽ bản đồ cho tôi vì sợ rằng tôi không thể tìm thấy khách sạn đó).
Note:

- Khi sử dụng In case trong thì hiện tại thì câu đó sẽ được dịch nghĩa là "bởi vì điều gì sẽ xảy ra/ bởi vì có lẽ điều gì có thể dễ dàng xảy ra" hoặc "vì lo sợ rằng điều gì sẽ xảy ra".
- Cả thì quá khứ và thì hiện tại trong cấu trúc trên đều có thể được thay thế bằng cụm từ Should + nguyên mẫu. Should ở trong cấu trúc In case này được dùng trong trường hợp bạn muốn diễn đạt ý nghĩa của câu không có nhiều khả năng xảy ra, tuy nhiên cấu trúc này hiếm khi được sử dụng.
3. In case of structure
In case in English can be an adverb or a conjunction, but if followed by the word 'of', in case of becomes a Mytourosition. We use the In case of structure when we want to describe 'if something happens, what should be done, Mytourared for, or how to deal with it'. Below is the In case of structure:

- In case of fire, ring the alarm bell (Trong trường hợp hỏa hoạn, rung chuông báo động).
- In case of emergency, you should call 113 (Trong trường hợp khẩn cấp, bạn nên gọi cho 113).
Note:

- In case sẽ không bao giờ được sử dụng thay thế cho từ if.
- Trong một số trường hợp cụ thể, bạn có thể dùng từ lest kèm với từ should thay cho “in case” để diễn tả nghĩa là “lo sợ rằng, e rằng”. Ví dụ: My dad insures this motorbike lest it should be stolen (Bố tôi giữ chiếc xe máy đó vì lo sợ rằng nó bị lấy cắp mất).
