YMTC Leads the Race Against Micron with 232-Layer 3D NAND Utilizing 2400 MT/s Interface
Buzz
YMTC not only pioneers the introduction of 232-layer 3D NAND chips to the market but also becomes the first company to mass-produce NAND chips featuring a 2400 MT/s interface—a prerequisite for achieving near 16 GB/s speeds on the latest PCIe 5.0 x4 drives.According to ITHome, YMTC's 232-layer 3D TLC NAND chips, with a 2400 MT/s interface, are now integrated into the Zhitai TiPlus7100 series drives—a lineup of M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSDs designed to strike a balance between performance and affordability. These drives come in 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities. The 2 TB variant is priced at 1290 NDT (~4.3 million VND). With maximum sequential read speeds of 7000 MB/s and write speeds of 6000 MB/s, benchmarked by 51CTO using CrystalDiskMark, random access speeds for the 1 TB and 2 TB versions are around 900K IOPS read and 700K IOPS write. These drives belong to the DRAMless category, meaning they forego a DRAM buffer and utilize a portion of NAND memory emulated as a high-speed buffer, resulting in lower production costs and consequently, more affordable prices. The drives boast an MTBF endurance rating of 1.5 million hours or DWPD endurance ratings of 300 TBW (512 GB), 600 TBW (1 TB), and 1200 TBW (2 TB).TiPlus7100 Controller Still Unidentified, But Features Exclusive YMTC 232-Layer 3D NAND Chips with X3-9070 Xtacking 3.0 ArchitectureNAND Interface Speed Remains a Crucial Concern; Several Brands Introduce PCIe 5.0 x4 Drives, Yet Gigabyte Stands Out with 12.4 GB/s Sequential Read Speeds, Others Limited to 10 GB/s, All Employing Phison PS5026-E26 ControllersPhison PS5026-E26 Controller Supports 8 NAND Channels; Achieving Bidirectional Speeds of 15.754 GB/s Requires 3D NAND Chips with 2400 MT/s Interface.
