• Having a callus on your heart line can mean you're wrestling with a particular emotion or an area of your personality where you need to improve. It can also be a sign that you're struggling in a relationship.

1. Identify the mount your callus is located under on your heart line. The heart line extends from the edge of your upper palm below your pinkie finger to the middle or index fingers. Palmists read the pads of flesh at the base of each finger – i.e., the palm mounts – as different aspects of your emotional self, which you may be able to use to diagnose your spiritual problems. Below is a list of palm mounts your callus may be near and what they mean.

   • Mount of Mercury: This mount is located beneath the pinkie finger and is related to your ability to think. A callus here may be a sign that you're feeling insecure about your intelligence level. It could also mean that you're a little too impractical or insensitive and should put your intellect to better use improving your life.
   • Mount of Apollo: This mount, located beneath your ring finger, is associated with your outlook on success, happiness, and beauty. A callus here may be a sign that you've had one of these things ripped away from you recently and you're struggling to rebuild. It could also mean that you've been too extravagant with your spending or self-pampering and should consider cutting back.
   • Mount of Saturn: This mount is found under your middle finger and is related to extra-ordinary tendencies, like having faith in fate or a tendency to dwell on morbid fantasies. A callus here may indicate the presence of doubt about your beliefs or a sign that you're spending too much time and energy thinking about imaginary scenarios.
   • Mount of Jupiter: This mount is located under your index finger and is associated with leadership, organization, and authority. A callus here could mean that you've recently felt belittled or challenged, either by someone specific or by life knocking you down a peg. It could also be a sign that you're too caught up in your own ego and vanity, and need to give yourself a humility check.

1. Head Line The head line is underneath the heart line and extends from the inside of your palm to your middle finger or even down to your pinkie finger. A callus in this area may mean that you're experiencing setbacks or encountering obstacles in learning, communication, or your pursuit of knowledge.

   • If you have a callus on your head line, consider your relationships or any recent efforts you've made to grow intellectually. Are you struggling to express your thoughts and feelings to someone? Are you having trouble grasping a new concept in school or at work? If so, the callus is a sign you need to work extra hard on this particular problem to overcome it.
2. Lifeline The lifeline is underneath (and sometimes connected to) your head line. It may only extend to the middle of your palm or go all the way to the base of your hand. The lifeline represents your physical health as well as major life changes. If you find a callus here, it could be a sign you need to get a checkup from your doctor or that you're about to experience a sudden change in your health or life circumstances (like finding your soulmate or getting a new job).
3. Fate Line Your fate line runs perpendicular to the other lines, up and down your palm instead of from side to side. This is a good indicator of how much of your life is in your own control or directed by external forces (i.e., family, friends, your boss). A callus on this line may signify that your fate is about to take a new turn, so be ready for whatever comes (good or bad).

These extra layers of skin grow on top of areas of your palm that an object rubs up or presses against over and over.

   • Calluses can be quite painful the bigger they grow. The best and safest way to remove it is to see a doctor. Before and after your treatment, wear gloves to provide your skin with extra padding and prevent more calluses from developing.
   • Professionals and hobbyists who commonly find calluses on their palms and fingers include construction workers, plumbers, carpenters, guitar players (and other musicians who play stringed instruments), and painters. However, anyone can develop a callus if they perform an action that causes friction or pressure against their skin often enough.
