TOEIC Listening Part 4 bao gồm 10 đoạn độc thoại dài khoảng từ 45-60 giây, tương ứng với mỗi đoạn độc thoại, thí sinh sẽ phải trả lời 3 câu hỏi liên quan đến các chi tiết được nhắc đến, tổng cộng là 30 câu hỏi.

Yêu cầu đối với người học ở trình độ 450

Đối với người học ở TOEIC level 450, người học có thể nhận diện được và tham gia vào các đoạn độc thoại cơ bản, hiểu được các thông tin và có thể sử dụng tiếng Anh ở mức trung bình khá.

Phân loại các thông tin chi tiết trong TOEIC Listening - Nghe hiểu thông tin chi tiết Part 4

Câu hỏi chi tiết thường gặp nhất trong phần thi TOEIC Listening - Nghe hiểu thông tin chi tiết Part 4 có thể được phân loại về các dạng thông tin sau:

• Câu hỏi về người: Bài thi yêu cầu người học nhận diện thông tin liên quan đến người nằm trong cuộc độc thoại, các câu hỏi về người thứ ba, hoặc ai là người đã làm các hành động cụ thể: Who recorded the message?…

• Câu hỏi về đồ vật/sự vật/sự việc: Các câu hỏi này sẽ đề cập đến các thông tin mà người nói đã nhắc đến liên quan đến các sự việc, hành động xảy ra như What event is taking place?… Đây cũng là loại câu hỏi thông tin chi tiết xuất hiện thường xuyên nhất trong TOEIC Listening Part 4.

• Câu hỏi về số liệu: Các câu hỏi sẽ được đính kèm với một bản đồ hoặc một bảng số liệu, yêu cầu người nghe cần kết hợp giữa việc nghe và phân tích thông tin từ bảng số liệu. Một số dạng câu thường gặp như: Look at the graphic. What/Where…

• Câu hỏi về địa điểm: Câu hỏi liên quan đến địa điểm diễn ra cuộc độc thoại, thường liên kết với các tín hiệu mở đầu. Một số câu hỏi ví dụ như: Where is the speaker, Where is the talk taking place?…

• Câu hỏi về lí do, mục đích: Câu hỏi này yêu cầu người nghe chọn đáp án đúng về các mục đích, lý do của đoạn độc thoại hoặc một hành động cụ thể nào đó.

Cách nhận diện các loại thông tin chi tiết trong TOEIC Listening - Nghe hiểu thông tin chi tiết Part 4

Dưới đây là cách nhận diện các loại thông tin chi tiết:

• Đối với loại thông tin chi tiết về người (Who): Các thông tin về nghề nghiệp của người được đề cập đến trong đoạn độc thoại, hoặc người nói thường không được biểu hiện rõ. Thay vào đó, các thông tin thường có một dấu hiệu để xác định, đa phần sẽ xuất hiện ở đầu đoạn độc thoại và có thể nhận thấy sau các từ ngữ liên quan đến ngành nghề nhất định, hoặc sau một tên riêng nhất định.

• Đối với loại thông tin về sự vật/sự việc/hành động (What): Phụ thuộc vào thông tin được hỏi, người học cần nắm bắt từ khóa trong câu hỏi, để đối chiếu với đoạn độc thoại. Các câu hỏi What được đánh giá khá dễ tìm.

• Đối với loại thông tin về số liệu: Các câu hỏi về số liệu sẽ thường được biểu diễn dưới dạng bảng hoặc bản đồ. Người học cần đối chiếu với thông tin được hỏi và thông tin của số liệu mà bài nghe đề cập đến. Đứng đầu các câu hỏi sẽ là Look at the graphic,… Thông thường, các thông tin sẽ liên quan đến thời gian khởi hành, vị trí của sân bay,..

• Đối với câu hỏi về địa điểm Where: Sử dụng các giới từ chỉ vị trí như on,at,.., địa điểm để xác định các địa điểm được hỏi.

• Đối với câu hỏi Why: Thường được xác định bằng các từ chỉ mệnh đề nguyên nhân - kết quả như because,… Loại thông tin này sẽ được viết lại theo cách khác ở đáp án nên người học cần nắm chắc ý chính nghe được để chọn đáp án đúng.

Đánh dấu từ khóa trong câu hỏi và đáp án

Việc gạch chân giúp người học nắm bắt được ý chính của đoạn độc thoại, và có tác dụng giúp người học loại bỏ đáp án không chính xác một cách nhanh chóng, hỗ trợ trong việc theo kịp mạch nói của đoạn độc thoại.

Ngoài ra, gạch chân keywords sẽ giúp các bạn tìm ra ngữ cảnh của đoạn độc thoại nhanh hơn, tránh bị ảnh hưởng bởi các đáp án gây nhiễu.

Lưu ý: Trong bài thi thật, người học không được phép gạch chân hoặc viết bất kỳ ghi chú nào vào trong đề bài.

Trong quá trình xác định từ khóa, hãy để ý xem từ khóa thuộc loại từ nào: Từ có thể thay thế được như tính từ, động từ hoặc các danh từ chung, và từ không thể thay thế được như tên riêng, hoặc các địa điểm. Việc phân loại về 2 nhóm như này sẽ giúp người học đỡ bị phân tán bởi các thông tin dễ bị thay thế trong đoạn độc thoại.

Nghe và nhận diện các từ khóa kết hợp với các dấu hiệu nhận diện

Sau khi đã xác định và phân loại được thành từ khóa cố định và không cố định, ta có thể dễ dàng nghe nắm bắt hơn.

Đối với nhóm từ khóa không thể thay thế ( cố định), người học có thể nhanh chóng nghe ra các cụm như tên riêng dựa vào các dấu hiệu nhận biết, và các cấu trúc cơ bản trong tiếng Anh như called, I am, known as,… Còn đối với địa điểm, người học sẽ dựa vào giới từ chỉ vị trí, hoặc các cụm chỉ hướng như to the left, on, at, above, behind,..

Đối với nhóm từ khóa có thể thay thế (không cố định), người học cần có sự linh hoạt trong việc nhận diện các từ đồng nghĩa của các cụm từ khóa đã được gạch chân. Để làm được việc này, hãy để ý kĩ đối tượng được hướng đến trong câu hỏi, nghe rõ các chi tiết được đề cập trong câu hỏi, cũng như ngữ cảnh mà từ khóa được đặt vào, sau đó suy ra đáp án cần tìm.

Các thông tin liên quan đến con số, thời gian hoặc các dữ liệu cụ thể

Đối với các câu hỏi chi tiết về số liệu, thời gian, các cụm liệt kê rất có thể nhiều người học sẽ dính vào bẫy số với đoạn độc thoại đề cập đến 3 - 4 từ khác nhau cùng một lúc với mục đích gây nhiễu. Nếu người học không chọn lọc cẩn thận, sẽ có thể chọn đáp án sai [1] .

Đa số các câu hỏi thường được xuất hiện theo thứ tự lần lượt trong đoạn độc thoại [2] . Chính vì thế, nếu trong quá trình nghe, người học đã bị lỡ một câu hỏi, hãy nhanh chóng và bình tĩnh chuyển qua câu hỏi tiếp.
