Định nghĩa
Trong toán học, hằng số là một giá trị cố định, không thay đổi và không phụ thuộc vào biến số. Hằng số thường là một số cụ thể xuất hiện trong biểu thức hoặc phương trình. Trái ngược với hằng số là biến số (variable), có thể nhận nhiều giá trị khác nhau tùy theo ngữ cảnh.
Một số ví dụ liên quan đến hàm số
Trong phương trình bên dưới, 3 và 9 đều là hằng số do giá trị của cả hai sẽ không thay đổi.
Trong công thức tính diện tích hình tròn, giá trị của 𝜋 là một hằng số.
Trong hàm số bên dưới, 7 là hằng số và hàm số này được gọi là hàm hằng (constant function): với bất kỳ giá trị nào của x, f(x) sẽ luôn có giá trị là 7.

Solution (noun): nghiệm
Khái niệm
Trong toán học, nghiệm là giá trị hoặc tập hợp các giá trị làm cho một phương trình, bất phương trình hoặc hệ phương trình trở thành đúng. Nói một cách đơn giản, nghiệm là "câu trả lời" cho bài toán.
Phương trình x + 2 = 5 đúng khi x = 3, vậy nên, x = 3 được gọi là nghiệm của phương trình này.
Trong bất phương trình x > 4, nghiệm là bất kỳ giá trị nào lớn hơn 4. Vậy nên, x = 5, x = 6, x = 7,... đều là nghiệm của bất phương trình này.
Nghiệm cũng có thể được thể hiện dưới dạng đồ thị. Trong ảnh là hai đường thẳng đại diện cho hệ phương trình y = x + 2 và y = -x + 4, điểm giao nhau A = (1, 3) chính là nghiệm của hệ phương trình.
