A Tranquil Retreat by the Sea
We spent our vacation from February 24 to March 10, 2019, at a quaint, small hotel nestled in a well-maintained green area. The room boasted high-quality wooden furniture, a remarkably comfortable mattress, delicate silk blankets, and small silk pillows. Daily cleaning services ensured freshness, with daily provisions of water, tea, coffee bags, shampoo, and shower gel. Bed sheets were changed every three days, while towels were refreshed daily. However, amenities like bathrobes, toothpaste, cotton buds, and disposable slippers were notably absent. Nevertheless, toothbrushes, a shower cap, and a mini comb were provided. Room facilities included a TV, kettle, hairdryer, small refrigerator, and a safe, although the safe remained unused. The local people were known for their kindness and honesty. Notably, the room featured air conditioning and a fan. In our room's toilet and shower area, everything functioned properly, albeit the layout proved somewhat inconvenient. The shower area lacked proper division, often leading to the entire bathroom getting wet during showers. Consequently, constant use of the ventilation system was necessary to maintain dryness, and wearing slippers was advised to prevent slipping on the almost permanently damp floor. The shower water was heated by a water heater, cautioning against directing it straight at oneself to avoid burns, even at comfortable temperatures, and ensuring it was turned off momentarily during soaping up. Regarding dining options, offerings varied daily with staples like small pancakes, eggs, and thin omelettes with meat and wheat sprouts. Guests could also prepare their own toast, with cooking oil readily available. Buffet selections included fried rice with egg, pork fried noodles, soup, boiled eggs, and a coarsely chopped mayonnaise salad resembling Olivier salad with beets. Other offerings comprised boiled corn, two types of sausages, fried vegetables, occasional boiled potatoes, skewers of minced pork alternating with vegetable skewers, and dumplings filled with minced meat. Additionally, a large dish of ham with vegetables was also served. There were several unidentifiable meat dishes that were left untried. Fruit plates featured watermelon, mango, small bananas, and papaya. Beverage options included brewed tea, coffee, condensed milk, lime, and boiling water with tea bags for packaged drink enthusiasts. Natural juices and concentrates were also available, alongside baguettes and sweetish bread for toasting, though there were no sweets or pastries. While modest, the buffet ensured no guest left hungry or unsatisfied, with everything served fresh and flavorful.
