Review of Ana Mandara Villa Hotel in Dalat
We have visited Dalat many times, but our recent stay at Ana Mandara Villa for three nights in mid-July 2022 marked our first experience at this hotel. The property consists of French-era villas set in a spacious compound, ideal for those seeking a glimpse into the charm of old French residences. The house itself was beautiful, with large, clean rooms and comfortable beds, equipped with all necessary amenities. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptionally friendly and attentive.
However, there are significant areas where improvements are needed to meet expectations. Firstly, while the hotel grounds are expansive, the garden lacks proper maintenance and lacks the vibrant flowers and plants typical of a city known as the 'City of thousands of flowers'.
Breakfast offered a variety of options, but most dishes were simple and did not meet the standard expected of a 4-star rating. There was a complete absence of cheese, fish, and beef (apart from a minimal amount of cooked meat for pho). The hygiene standards during breakfast service were concerning, especially given the ongoing Covid situation. For instance, after guests finished their meal, the staff cleared the table but did not replace the personal table mats, simply wiping them and setting new cutlery and napkins for the next diners.
We have frequented Dalat many times, yet our recent stay at Ana Mandara Villa Hotel for three nights in mid-July 2022 was our first. This hotel comprises French-era villas set in a spacious compound, perfect for those who appreciate staying in historic French residences. The accommodations were lovely, featuring spacious, clean rooms with large beds and ample amenities. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful.
Nonetheless, several aspects require significant improvement to align with guest expectations. Despite the hotel's expansive grounds, the garden was not well-maintained, lacking the expected floral displays typical of a city renowned for its thousands of flowers.
Although breakfast offered numerous choices, most options were basic and did not measure up to a 4-star standard. Notably absent were cheeses, fish, and beef (with the exception of a small amount of cooked meat for pho). Hygiene during breakfast service was worrisome, particularly in light of the ongoing Covid pandemic. For example, after guests finished dining, staff cleared tables but failed to remove personal placemats, instead quickly wiping them and laying out fresh utensils and napkins for the next patrons.
