Room was large but in poor condition, renovations are ongoing
4.0
KémI stayed here on a business trip (booked by work) for it's central location. I stayed on the 18th floor.
It looks like an apartment building from the outside, not a hotel. On the inside, it feels like an apartment building as well. The rooms I saw were large- like 2-3 bedroom apartments but the extra bedrooms and bathrooms were locked off to prevent use, leaving the living area and a bedroom with attached bathroom.
When I checked in (around 3pm), I was not impressed to hear the sound of drilling and renovations coming from another room/apartment on my floor. It was loud but fortunately did not last for long.
The living room is spacious and furnished adequately. However, the window louvres do not seal. This is great for letting the cool air in at night, but in the day, warm air comes in and there is no fan or airconditioning in the living area. This also means that despite being on a high floor, there is constant noise from the area around. On Friday night, there was a loud concert being held nearby for several hours! The walls have holes in some areas (corners particularly) that give the impression that the room is unfinished- perhaps they are still doing it up.
The bedroom has an airconditioner that works and is surprisingly quiet. However the windows have wallpaper-type material stuck on them. I presume it's to keep the sun out, but the light in the room is weak, so even in the day the bedroom is quite dark even with the curtains open- not suitable for work/reading. The bed is comfortable enough but creaks with movement.
The bathroom heater works well and water pressure is good. But the towels are thin and hard.
The WIFI fluctuates- good at times, really bad at other times. I had an urgent work Skype and was unable to connect to the WIFI for most of that hour! Also there is no WIFI in the bedroom (my colleague confirmed the same in his room), only the living room.
On the positive side, I loved the big glass windows in the living area- they gave an excellent view of Pleiku city. This room definitely exceeds my expectations in terms of size. And the location is convenient. My colleagues on a lower floor said their rooms were more 'finished' and felt more like hotel rooms- perhaps they are renovating floor by floor and I happened to stay on the floor still being renovated/upgraded.
If I was coming to Pleiku again, I would not book this hotel based on my experience this time.

not worth staying
2.0
KémThe room is very old. The shower doesn't work properly. Fan only. Not soundproof. Towels are old and hard. Wifi is very weak.
Check-in: They didn't record my booking properly. When I came, the receptionist didn't know which room I had book until another receptionist coming and told him.
Check-out: The room was so terrible that we decided to check-out the next morning and found another hotel. They came and checked the room but had wrong calculation on our room price =.= So bad.

Convenient

Trung bìnhGood, spacious and clean room. Located in a convenient part of town. The staff was very helpful for setting up all we needed for our next trips. The location is convenient with restaurants close by and a nice market a few streets away.

Poor hotel, helpful receptionist
4.0
KémWe booked a room with a balcony, but on arrival were given a dark little room, with only one window, which overlooked the maids station, and a bathroom like a prison. We complained that this wasn't what we asked for and were told that there were no more balcony rooms available. We were eventually moved to a bigger, nicer room, with no balcony, but at least a window looking outside, so we were happy... Until we heard the rats running around in the ceiling. At first we thought we imagined it, but we heard them again and again scrabbling and running around. We asked to move again and they came to check out the problem. They seemed embarrassed, but not surprised. They were about to move us to another hotel, when luckily some guests checked out of a balcony room (which was strange as it was 6pm) so we were moved it there. This room was freshly cleaned and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the street. If we had been given this room to start with we would have had no complaints.
Overall, if you get a balcony room then this place is fine to stay for a night. If not then I would atay somewhere else. On the plus side, the receptionist was great and helped us so much. He was very apologetic and made sure we wre happy in the end.

Basic Hotel. Dishonest Staff
4.0
KémGot a late flight into Plekiu so had to stay somewhere before heading to Kon Tum next day. Room was ok, hot water but very smelly and not really that clean. Staff when they werent watching movies or drinking with friends in the reception were initially helpful. Told us where supermarket was. What we should of paid for airport taxi (70,000dong) not the tourist price we got from the Malinh meter that took us on the long guided night tour of Pleiku. However, when it came to getting a bus to Kon Tum the next day the female receptionist told us 'that there was no public bus today to Kon Tum'. We asked why and she said 'no bus'. She suggested we take a taxi to a minibus stop where we could jump on a minibus to Kon Tum for 50,000 each plus the 60,000 taxi fare. We politely told her she could do one and would like to know where we could catch the public bus to Kon Tum. No help was forthcoming so we arranged another taxi on the street to where the main regional bus station was about 5km away. Unfortunately this only served regional routes and not Kon Tum and it was only after finding a trustworthy taxi driver that we found the actual public bus station back near the market where the frequent Kon Tum buses go. Hopped on the yellow and white bus and paid 25,000 each to Kon Tum one way. Bus station was less than a 2km walk from the hotel so the lying reception could of saved us a lot of hassle, money and time by telling us the truth and not trying to rip us off.

"No worse than average"
6.0
Trung bìnhWe stayed one night in this hotel, and for that one night this place provided a pleasant enough experience to get our rest so we could get out of the slightly depressing city of Pleiku as soon as possible. The staff didn´t speak much English but I guess this was to be expected because Pleiku is not really a tourist destination in any sense and the guests seem to be mostly higher-ranking members of a certain Party and business-travelers from other cities.
The room was clean and generally nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews here seem to indicate. If you really want to nit-pick on something then the decor is a bit too "Soviety", with thematic paintings to really bang home the theme .Decent place for a couple of nights stay though.

Not bad for the price
6.0
Trung bìnhDecent value. Nice enough place in a good location, near a lot of restaurants and the market. Room as decent size, cleaner than a lot of other places we've stayed at in Cambodia. English TV channels, ok bathroom. The staff speaks very little english. Mattress was quite hard. We had to leave the same day that we arrived, so we couldn't spend the night since we had to catch the night bus and we got a bit of a reduction on the full rate, which was nice. Staff also was helpful with bus tickets and taxi instructions.

Disgusting
2.0
KémStayed here as part of an expensive tour. We were told that this was a standard class hotel BUT no way...it is budget class at best. Had to inspect FOUR rooms before we found one that was basically clean. After checking in we found our inspection had not been detailed enough and discovered some dirty men's underwear still in the bathroom. Yuck! Went to reception to have the items removed but they could not understand a word of English. Telephoned our guide who had to get the items removed for us.
The room was very basic and not very clean, The bed linen appeared to have been used so I was not willing to sleep in it. The bathroom was tired and dirty. No shower enclosure and very little hot water - not enough for 2 quick showers.
The staff were cold and unapproachable - not the usual smiling faces we have experienced around Vietnam.
I am sure there are better places to stay in this town - unfortunately the scam tourist operator we dealt with did not ensure we were given a standard class hotel as promised.

Decent place to stay at the price
6.0
Trung bìnhWe used Pleiku as a pitstop for just 1 night. This seemed the best option on tripadvisor. Its an average place to stay - rooms and bathrooms were clean but nothing great. Service was a bit cold. Good value for money but more discerning travellers (or travellers staying for a longer time) might want to do a bit more research.

Avoid the VC cronies & base yourself here.
6.0
Trung bìnhThis good find is located towards the older part of Pleiku which was mostly destroyed during the war & rebuilt in typical soviet fashion. An exception from the boring, this budget category hotel features out the front a plastic-neon palm tree that lights up at night & a glass elevator, capitalism has arrived in Pleiku!
A twin-share room set us back 280,000 VND & from the pictures this was very good value compared to Pleiku's behemoth Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hotel which dominates the city skyline. If you can do without the 4 star treatment in this modest town you could stay here. Our floor included a shared sitting area with great city views from high up via the glass elevator which made quiet nights in Pleiku enjoyable with a few sips of the wine.
Our rooms featured high ceilings, aircon, fan, mini fridge, cupboards, wardrobes, lamps, 51 cm TV, satellite channels, hot water & a bath tub. Unusually for a budget hotel it also includes those little shampoo bottles, comb & toothbrush, it’s the little things that count sometimes.
For such a price I didnt expect brass door knobs but this hotel was comfortable enough. The hotel also has a restaurant but there are plenty of cheap local street restaurants to choose from nearby.
A good place to base yourself as it seems over-the-top staying at the Hoang An Gia Lai with the other communist cronies.
